REALITY MOMS PARTNER: San Francisco Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

This year I decided to do something outside of my usual support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month—I was invited to take part in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®.

Many moons ago I enjoyed the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk in Chicago. After three days, it was as if my legs were going to fall off! I remember it like it was yesterday. It was an inspiring experience that I will hold dear to my heart for many years to come.

When Susan G. Komen invited me to take part in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®  I was eager and also relieved. A 5K race is such a great way to bring awareness yet not have to trample your body for days on end. Oh, wait Joey. Isn’t that what happens to women and men struggling to put their own breast cancer into remission? Of course. What on Earth am I complaining about?!

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® was held on the Embarcadero on September 30th. The race was loaded with awesome all the way around. From the tent city with great treats and information about cancer and the things they are supporting through Susan G. Komen. The race was led by a local tv personality and you could feel the energy bumping around the Embarcadero after the race began! Men, women, children of all ages all participated in this fun family-friendly event.

I enjoyed connecting with a gorgeous community of survivors and co-survivors at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. It was amazing to hear and learn of their resilience and determination as they maneuver this setback in their lives. It was so encouraging to hear their stories to do and be More Than Pink™ .

I was there representing Valpak and the great initiative they have with Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. In case you were wondering, in their quest to find a world without breast cancer, Valpak amplified awareness by turning their blue envelopes pink During Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year alone, Valpak will donate at least $50,000 to Komen and continues to encourage and support different events through local and corporate partners.

Do us at Reality Moms a solid and share this to your favorite social media accounts and tell Valpak you hear their support! #Pak4aCure is the hashtag!
