Can we get real for a minute? Between my two children, I have hosted fourteen birthday parties to date. FOURTEEN. And while I love seeing the absolute joy on my boys’ faces when they tear through presents, smash cake into the living room carpet and engage in all-out Nerf wars up and down my hardwood stairs with a dozen of their closest friends (ahem)…when my son gleefully requested a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party this year? I was ALL FOR IT!
I am a single mom who works full-time, so when it comes to planning events, I look for easy and awesome—and a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese did not disappoint! After booking online and downloading personalized invitations, the day finally arrived. Our host, Nate, greeted us at the door and walked us to our party area. I have to say, it had been a minute since I was last inside the four walls of our local Chuck E. Cheese and I was impressed! Our table was set up with a fun array of helium balloons, the area was sparkling clean and my son’s newly minted nine-year-old wrist was promptly adorned with a Play Pass that gave him the freedom to run around and play whatever games he chose. The move from tokens to digital passes means a much easier experience for parents and kids alike and we were able to sit back, relax and play some skeeball too!
While my son and his buddies played their favorite video games Nate gave me the rundown of the event and I did not have to worry about a thing from there; the pizza arrived piping hot and our host even encouraged me to sit down a couple of times and just enjoy the day. A huge highlight was when Chuck E. Cheese himself made an appearance to say happy birthday to each kiddo in the party area leading them in the “when I say ‘happy’ you say ‘birthday’!” chant. And then came the moment we’d all been waiting for: the ticket blaster! There are truly not words to describe the look of joy on my son’s face when that machine turned on and he emerged victorious with hundreds and hundreds of tickets.
Moms, I am convinced: Chuck E. Cheese is truly America’s number one place for birthdays. The whole staff at Chuck E. Cheese made my son’s birthday not only super fun but easy on me, which means that everyone wins!
