RealityMoms Guide to Baby and Toddler Easter Baskets

Spring has sprung. It soon will be that time of year again where a mystical, humanized rabbit comes hopping down the magical bunny trail bringing treats to all the good little boys and girls of the world, or something like that. Parents everywhere are preparing to be “Bunny’s Helper” and fill little baskets with treats and fun for their little ones. This can be a difficult task for babies who are not yet old enough to do much at all or young toddlers who are too little to express their own likes and dislikes. In order to help all the parents of babies and toddlers create awesome Easter baskets, here are some useful tips.

How to Create Amazing Baby/Toddler Easter Baskets

  1. Forget the candy. Obviously. Babies aren’t ready for that sugary deliciousness yet (more for us!) Instead, fill their baskets with healthy snacks like baby food pouches, containers of puffs, applesauce cups, and cracker snack packs. For a fun Easter effect, grab some clear cellophane cone-shaped
  2. Focus on things they need. Babies and young toddlers can’t yet tell you that they want the new Disney princess doll or that amazing Baby Einstein DVD they heard about at daycare. Savor this moment (it won’t last long) and use the opportunity to buy things your child will need anyway. Fill your little cherub’s basket with things like bottles, sippy/straw cups, pacifiers, teethers, spring/summer clothing, bathing suits and sun hats. RePlay baby eating utensils are perfect basket additions and come in a variety of rainbow colors. Get a few different color sets, tie them together by color and place around the basket for a splash of color. So cute!
  3. Think beyond the basket. Get a little creative! Instead of filing a traditional wicker basket, get an item to fill that can be part of the treat. Examples can range from a sand bucket for the beach to a little red toy wagon that doubles as a walker.
  4. Look for age-appropriate toys with an Easter theme. Stretch your imagination to look for everyday baby toys that have an Easter feel. For example, Skip Hop Explore and More Musical Egg Shaker Trio are egg-shaped baby toys that would look adorable nestled in the plastic grass of an Easter basket. You can also look at toys like Tomy Hide and Squeak Eggs for children a little older. And, of course, you can never go wrong with a good old-fashioned bath-time rubber ducky. Pro tip: Search Amazon for “baby Easter toys” and see what other ideas pop up.
  5. Books, books, books. But, of course! You cannot forget the priceless gift of reading to your child. To stick with the feel of the holiday, you can choose books such as Llama Llama Easter Egg by Anna Dewdney, Happy Easter, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff or even a classic storybook like Pat the Bunny by Dorothy Kunhardt.

Ok, mamas. Now that you have some egg-citing ideas, have fun creating the perfect baby Easter basket!
